CAKNE or “Cancer Associates and Kindred Network” is a support group for childhood cancer patients treated in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM). It was formed in 2008 by Mohd Shah Awaluddin and wife Nor Hashimah Sulaiman together with several other parents of cancer children.
CAKNE provides moral, material and financial support to cancer children and their families regardless of races, religions and backgrounds. Since inception CAKNE has served approximately 500 patients. Our objectives are to share knowledge and experience; to create awareness on childhood cancer, its treatment and caretaking; and to encourage volunteerism and philanthropy among Malaysian.
What We Do
We provide services and assistance to the patients through these initiatives:
- Starter-kit sets (consisting of basic daily use items) for ALL new patients (cost RM200.00 each)
- Sustenance allowance for underprivileged patients who are undergoing intensive treatment (RM300.00 per month for 6 months)
- Transport allowance for underprivileged patients (Max RM300.00 per month for 6 months)

How You Can Help
We are running out of fund to continue providing financial assistance to the sick children. Donors could help by donating any amount or by sponsoring one sick child for 6 months, or sponsoring the cost of “Starter-kits”.
We are also organizing “CAKNE Aqeelah Trail 2019” our annual charity hiking event (for the 3rd consecutive year) on 30 Nov 2019. Donors could help by sponsoring or participating in the event.
