A Fundraiser's Story – Kent Ong
Posted on: Tuesday 01/07/2014
"Kent, I have observed that you run and swim zealously. But I have a question for you: How many lives have you saved by running and swimming? My advice to you is don't get addicted to sports, get addicted to changing other people's lives".
Dr Peggy Wong is the founder of Living Hope Global, a Malaysian charity that serves underprivileged children. At that time, I was a full time athlete and swimming coach and her message shook me up. She made me realize that my mission in life is to serve underprivileged children by using my talent in sports.
In the past, I already did two fundraising marathons. However, this time, it has become more significant and meaningful. I decided to join the KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge 2014 with my friend Chai Chin to raise funds for the underprivileged children. I was determined to help a lot of people and I knew that two people are better than one. We ran together in order to encourage each other to never give up running and complete this fundraising event. Our objective was to raise RM7020.00 for World Vision Malaysia and the proceeds are intended to help three children in the Philippines who were displaced by Typhoon Haiyan last year.

We would like to take this chance to thank World Vision Malaysia for giving us this opportunity to serve three children from Philippines. We would also like to thank PeopleGiving for providing an amazing platform to raise fund. And finally, we want to thank ALL those who helped and donated to the charity campaign, your efforts are really appreciated.

The bridges that we will run in Cambodia are ChroyChangvaBridge and PrekTamakBridge and this will be on the 17th of August this year.
